July 10 - State Rooms

We have a tour of the Buckingham Palace State Rooms, and then off to Edinburgh

We got up before the alarms. Showered and had our yogurt. Then walked down to the London Bridge Station to the Caffè Nero. Back to the hotel after sitting outside the Caffè for a bit. Packed and then went down to reception. Waited for a while before someone showed up to take our bags. Andy and Michele came down and off we went to the Buckingham Palace state rooms. Beautiful. There was a sculpture of Queen Elizabeth with a horse and a colt before you walked down to the state rooms. Very elegant.

Out to the gift shop. I chatted with one of the gentlemen who was watching a rope that he would open to let the workers through. Caught up with Gwyn in the shop, and saw Andy and Michele. Gwyn and I were heading to Loverpool Street station to get the Superman paper. They were also giving out some cologne. There was a Pret next door so we got lunch and something to drink. Then on to a bus back to the Bermonds Locke. Got our bags and headed back to London Bridge Station for the third time today. Boarded the train that sound take us to Luton Airport. A pleasant ride. The Dart trains now take you to Luton from the station. The Dart train was opened by King Charles in 2022. Checked in with EasyJet, then to security. I didn't have the fast security but it was not bad. Got to the shopping area and got some water. Waited for a while, and Andy and Michele arrived. They announced gate 17 was where we needed to go, so down we went. Gwyn and I had the quick pass so we went right on ahead. There were stairs to go down, and we waited a bit. Finally boarded, and them took off.

It took a bit to get off of the plane. The ground crew was not expecting us. The pilot had to call the tower. Finally off and Andy collected their bags. Bought tickets for the tram, but you can now tap on and off. We exited at Princess Street. Tried to use our code, but the door would not open. Andy tried, then realized he was at 18, not 4, so they went and got in.

I finally had to call Destiny Scotland and take my phone off of airplane mode. They gave me a new code, but it did not work. So they would call me back. After about 25 minutes I tried calling back but I got Verizon messages. Called the Verizon help line, but still got nowhere. After a bit a French couple showed up and tried getting in. They pulled the door, then pushed it and got in! So Gwyn went in and I tried the code and the door pushed in. Duh!

We put our stuff down, and walked down to the Twenty Princes Street restaurant. The salmon was really good. We walked back to the Destiny and turned in for the night.
